MAGA hat displayed in cop car against policy, Hennepin Sheriff’s Office says
The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office says the issue has been addressed after pictures circulated online that showed one of its vehicles with a "Make America Great Again" hat on its dashboard Thursday.
MINNEAPOLIS – After images circulated online that showed a MAGA hat displayed in a Hennepin County Sheriff’s vehicle, an agency spokesperson said it goes against their policies.
"We are aware of the image circulating online involving the display of political material in a squad car,” an agency spokesperson told Misfits Media. "Our policy is clear: employees are prohibited from engaging in political activity or displaying political messaging while working or representing this office."
"The matter has been addressed,” the spokesperson added. "We remain committed to serving our community with professionalism, impartiality, and integrity."
The employee responsible has not yet been identified by the agency.
The incident comes after the agency has faced backlash for its handling of violent federal agents in the Twin Cities earlier this year and for the conduct of its deputies against protesters.
The pictures, posted on Reddit Thursday afternoon, show the vehicle parked at the Glen Lake Lunds & Byerlys in Minnetonka and raise even more questions about local law enforcement’s collaboration with federal agents to quell dissent against President Donald Trump’s regime.
"Just like their frequent and brazen violence against peaceful ICE protestors, this is Hennepin County Sheriffs intentionally signaling that they are pro-fascism and don't work for the people," Wes Sax, an organizer with MN50501, said.
The pictures show HCSO vehicle 85181 with a grey and white hat on the dashboard with the words “Make America Great Again” printed on the front.

The Sheriff’s Office has essentially taken over security for ICE agents at the Bishop Henry Whipple Federal Building at Ft. Snelling. The site functions as the de facto headquarters for Department of Homeland Security agents in the midwest.
Minnesota saw several attacks over the winter months against civilians by Trump’s paramilitary forces within DHS, primarily from Border Patrol, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Homeland Security Investigations.
In response to the federal government gassing hundreds and killing two people during that time, local law enforcement refused to step in to stop the heavy handed tactics by heavily armed and ill-trained Trump loyalists within the government.
Since the drawdown of federal paramilitary forces from the state, local security forces like the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office have insulted and attacked civilians protesting at Ft. Snelling.
Two federal agents have been charged by the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office for their actions during the months-long rampage through the Twin Cities.
Loyalists within the Trump regime have mostly refused to cooperate with local and state prosecutors investigating the federal government’s conduct in Minnesota.
