ST. PAUL – A 27-year-old St. Paul man is accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting a 5-year-old girl, according to a criminal complaint filed in Ramsey County District Court earlier this week.

Daniel Scott Sergot appeared before Judge Veena Iyer on Nov. 6 and was released on an $80,000 bond with no conditions.

Sergot is charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct involving penetration and second-degree criminal sexual conduct for contact with someone under 16 years old.

The girl’s mother reported the abuse to police after the child disclosed to Sergot’s girlfriend that he touches her “all the time,” and that “he won’t stop,” according to the complaint signed by St. Paul Police Sgt. Nicole Bardeaux and Ramsey County Attorney prosecutor Karen Kugler, who specializes in sexual assault prosecutions.

According to the criminal complaint:

Sergot’s girlfriend did not report the abuse right away because she was afraid that he would hurt her

During a medical examination, the girl told a medical provider that Sergot told her not to tell anyone about the abuse.

During police questioning, Sergot denied knowing his girlfriend’s last name and told law enforcement that there was no evidence of a sexual assault.

“It seems like it’s a he say, she said thing to me,” Sergot told police.

Sergot’s next court hearing is scheduled for Dec. 18 at 9 a.m. in Ramsey County District Court.
