MINNEAPOLIS – A 21-year-old Northfield man is accused of sexually assaulting a girl about five years ago, according to new charges filed Tuesday in Hennepin County District Court.

Jose Nicholas Gonzalez Munoz is charged with two felony counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct, according to the complaint, signed by Bloomington police officer M. Smith and Assistant Hennepin County Attorney Dan Allard.

Munoz sexually assaulted the girl between 2021 and 2023, when she was about 7 or 8 years old, Smith wrote in the complaint.

In addition, police accuse Munoz of attempting to solicit sexually graphic pictures from the girl during the same time period, which Munoz admitted to during police questioning, according to Smith’s complaint.

Munoz is currently not in custody.

The case has been assigned to Judge Maximillia Utley and a first appearance for Munoz is scheduled for Nov. 20.
